Sedum spurium (Phedimus spurius) ‘Red Carpet’: A lovely ground cover with green foliage lined with red. It produces pink blooms in summer and looks attractive when planted in drifts. Once its roots have established, Sedum can tolerate several months of drought.
Sedum like well-drained, porous soil. Addition of grit or sharp sand will help porosity & drainage. Many varieties propagate by simply spreading leaves on the soil surface. To ensure division, remove top 2″ of plant tips and strip lower leaves form bottom of stem. Plant in well-drained soil mix and water after 2-3 days. Do not over water! New plants should be well established after 5-6 weeks. Fertilize with a low-nitrogen fertilizer 1-2 times during growing season.
